Course Description: We will create
enthusiasm for language and communication. This class will expand the
communication skills of the students by increasing writing proficiency,
vocabulary, critical thinking, presentation and speaking skills, listening, and
reading strategies.
Required Materials: Three ring
binder, loose leaf paper, 2 pencils, pens (blue, black, and red for correcting),
an independent reading book that will be brought to class daily (preferably an

Citizenship Grading: These grades
will be given each term and will be based on your student’s attendance and
adherence to classroom rules, procedures, and values.
S (Satisfactory) good behavior, prepared,
and punctual
N (Needs
Improvement) 3-4 tardies,
behavior needs improvement, often unprepared
U (Unsatisfactory) 5 or more tardies,
inappropriate behavior, incessantly unprepared (6 tardies
in one term will result in a suspension)
Grade Scale: Grades will be
posted weekly for your viewing at www.wsdinfo.net. Students are
responsible for monitoring their own grades.
100-90% = A, 89-80% = B, 79-70% = C, 69-60%
= D
Policies: At Rocky
Mountain Junior High we uphold a standard of policies that we refer to as
R.O.A.R. policies that we expect the students to uphold. These policies greatly
affect the Citizenship Grading.
